Greetings from the edge,
I have been working on a short story over the last few weeks; it’s called The Bone Garden. It’s about a lonely boy who stumbles upon a mysterious garden where plants grow from the bones of the dead and whisper their secrets. Under the guidance of its elderly caretaker, he learns that some gardens don’t just grow flowers — they grow memories.
I’ve got a complete first draft that I’m quite happy with. I’m going to desk-draw it for a week, maybe two, and in the meantime build up a bit of Karma on Scribophile.com, then get some feedback from real flesh and blood readers.
In the meantime, I have been working on the main site; it’s a bit of a steep learning curve for me because, as much as I know my way around raw HTML, that is good for precisely what it comes to WordPress.
I’ve done some work with AI to do that art for the site. I know many people frown upon the use of any AI in creative endeavours. I hear that, I do. The problem is that my skills are with words, not with drawing or making images. I’ll keep trying to improve, but until I can afford stock art or hire an artist, Leonardo De’Skynet will be my art department.
Rest assured, though, short of a little SPAG work, I’ve not let AI’s greasy little microchips anywhere near the creative writing.
Got some headway made with WordPress, I’m kind of learning as I go, and in a way, it is like for every two steps forward I take one back, but I’m getting there.
See you in the margins,
RBD
